Saint Martin I succeeded Pope Theodore.

Having convoked at Rome a Council, where The Monothelites, who only admitted a Divine Will in Christ, were condemned, he was treacherously seized by order of the heretics Heraclius and Constant and carried away to Constantinople.

After enduring much suffering and humiliation, he was exiled to Chersonesus, where he died of fatigue in 655 A.D.

His body, Translated to Rome, was laid in The Church of Saint Sylvester and Saint Martin, the Apostle of Gaul.

Mass: Sacerdótes Dei.

  1. As Zephyrinus knows, I always think of (and yearn for) “St Martin’s Summer,” a period of late autumn warm weather in early November, attributed in part to S. Martin and to the coincidence of his Nov. 12th feast. (However it seems we are having “S. Tryphon’s, Respicius’ and S. Ninfa’s Winter” (Nov. 10), an early snowfall and several consecutive days expected of (brrr) highs of only about 30 degrees F where we are in the mountains of the western US!). (Maybe next year!) -Note by Dante P

    1. Thanks to Dante P for this welcome Comment. Zephyrinus notes that the Western USA is experiencing a chilly "Saint Martin's Summer", whereas, in Britain, we are experiencing record high temperatures for November !!! Saint Martin has moved to Britain !!!
