where can i find the entrance to the Teutonic Cemetery? Must I go through the line up to St peters first inorder to get to the cemetery or can i go directly?
The Church of the Campo Santo (access via the Teutonic Cemetery) (Patronal Feast: Our Lady of Sorrows) was in 1501 by the same architect who built the Sistine Chapel, completed. In the years 1972-1975 it was restored. Services are Mondays to Saturdays at 07:00, Sundays at 09:00 in German language (Latin Wednesdays, Saturdays Italian).
Major Holidays: 8 December (09:00), Maundy Thursday (18.00), Good Friday (15.00), Sunday after Corpus Christi (09:00 High Mass, Corpus Christi Procession), All Saints (09:00, 17:30 Vespers and Benediction of the graves). On the Sundays in Lent after Holy Mass. Fair Way of the Cross. In August, the Church is closed.
The Confraternity of Our Lady of the Teutonic Cemetery have their own Church for pilgrims, who want to celebrate with their accompanying Clergy. This is possible by appointment (tel. +39- 06-69883923 11-13 clock or fax +39-06-69883964, E-mail: sekretariat@teutonico.va ). Baptisms and marriages are not possible in the church.
