We spent it at a Pig Farm in North Yorkshire, the former site of RAF Mellbourne where my Squadron operated from in WW2. We paraded our Association Standard, and the RAF paraded the 10 Squadron Standard.
There were only two 90 year old's . The others were too ill or dead. But at the Pub (which the Crews used in WW2) The WHOLE squadron were there, time stood still and we were ALL kids together.
We had the Loyal Toast, and the dead returned to their rest, and the rest went home.

A wonderful Comment, John. Thank You.
ReplyDeleteMagnificent image of the pub actually HEAVING, due to the WHOLE SQUADRON being on parade in the Bars.
All your lads (current, previous and those now flying high) will be delighted with the turnout, the Loyal Toast, and the Remembrance.
Lest We Forget.
