Today is the last day of Alma Redemptoris Mater
(Sweet Mother of The Redeemer), one of the four Marian Anthems of Praise
to The Blessed Virgin Mary. It is sung from First Vespers in Advent
to Second Vespers of Candlemas (2 February).

It is succeeded by Ave Regina Cælorum
(Hail, Queen of Heaven), which is sung from Compline,
on Candlemas (2 February), until Maundy Thursday, exclusive.
