Faure Requiem Op.48.
Durufle Requiem Op.9.

They shall grow not old,

as we that are left grow old.

Age shall not weary them,

nor the years condemn.

At the going down of the Sun,

and in the morning,

We will remember them.

We will remember them.

  1. I believe you have named the two most stunningly uplifting and consoling Requiem Masses ever composed (the Faure and the Durufle Requiems).

It is a shame that many Catholics are not familiar with them, or the purpose behind their composition by each of their extraordinary composers.

    Thank you, Frater Zephyrinus!

  2. Thank You, Dante Peregrinus, for your most welcome Comment. Indeed, I concur about the two most stunning Requiem Masses being the two here displayed.

Sadly, such magnificent Liturgical Music is seldom heard, nowadays, in Catholic Churches. Hence, the necessity to continually highlight, and promote, such Music whenever possible, such as on our Blogs.

Such outstanding Liturgical Music is most fitting for the heart-rending Commemorations undertaken on yesterday's Remembrance Day Ceremonies. May They All Rest In Peace. “We Shall Remember Them”.
