Chauffeur Perkins drives Zephyrinus to Sunday Mass
in the current Charabanc, with which Perkins is
not particularly enamoured. He says he’s found an
excellent replacement (or two).

Is the World ready for Perkins driving a 16-cylinder beast ?

Perkins is “getting above himself”, one feels.

Indeed, Zephyrinus! One always wonders how the mechanics were able to keep a 16-cylinder motor in constant tune,! Note by Dante P
ReplyDeleteA very pertinet Comment, Dante P.
DeleteZephyrinus had been assured by Perkins that he (Perkins) had done an Evening Course on “Do-It-Yourself Car Maintenance” and would be amply over-qualified to service and maintain a 1930 Duesenberg Model J Convertible Berline.
Zephyrinus had a few doubts.
(The Duesenberg Model J by contrast only had 8-cylinders (“straight 8”).
ReplyDeleteInteresting to note: A 1930 Model J was sold at auction this past Aug, 2023 for $2.975 million.
Pocket change, no doubt, for Zephyrinus!

Quite right, Dante P.
DeleteZephyrinus was very keen to attend the auction and acquire the aforementioned 1930 Model J in August 2023.
However, Perkins was due in Court that day and Zephyrinus had to appear as a character witness !!!
This pre-empted Zephyrinus's attending the auction, much to the his chagrin.
