  1. A magnificent vehicle (not the Charabanc), the 1958 Lincoln Continental Mark III. According to a classic car site, “ The Continental Mark III rested on a 131-inch wheelbase platform and initially had an overall length of 229 inches, shrinking slightly in 1959 to 227.1 inches.” Just short of 20’ long!

As mentioned before, my late aunt (God rest her soul) had a stunning cream-colored 1959 Lincoln Continental — a drive in it was a magnificent ride. It also had leather upholstery , and lovely turn-signal chimes that I will never forget: the epitome of elegance!

But it was so long, even the ample- sized garage couldn’t completely enclose it, and the overhead closing garage door was always slightly ajar when it was parked! -Comment by Dante P

    1. A most wonderful anecdote, Dante P. Thank you very much.

Your dear Aunt (God Bless her) obviously was a lady of excellent good taste. Delighted that you have actually ridden in a Lincoln Continental Mark III and heard the turn-signal chimes. They don't make 'em like that anymore. And more's the pity !!!

Perkins has now seen your welcome Comment and has renewed his pleading for a Lincoln Continental Mark III !!!

      In Canary Yellow !!!

    2. Alas! Perkins, whose taste for fine things—like the composer Richard Wagner and the architect Frank Lloyd Wright—-far outstrips his budget. -Note by Dante P
