Much of Aelred’s history is known because of “The Life” [“Vita”] written about him by Walter Daniel shortly after his death in 1167.[20]
For many Centuries, his most famous work has been his “Life of Saint Edward, King and Confessor”.[33]
Aelred is remembered in the Church of England with a Lesser Festival[34] and on the Episcopal Church Calendar with a Feast[35] on 12 January.
