Parish of Kolsass/Fiecht Monastery.
History:
Weer, first elevated to the status of a Parish in
1954, was originally a Branch of the Parish of Kolsass and
under the administration of Fiecht Monastery, near Schwaz.
The first Church, belonging to a farm, dates from the
8th-Century A.D. It is assumed that a new building was erected in the 13th-Century. In the last third of the
15th-Century, a larger Late-Gothic Church was erected.
The Master Builder, who long remained unknown,
has now been identified as Michael Umlauf.
