At the peak of the Spanish Rococo Baroque period, the Basílica de San Juan de Dios was built in Granada, Spain. 

Every surface is embellished in Gilt and Statuary.

The result is a feast for the eyes, offering the best that Spanish Baroque has to offer. 

The effect is pure wonder, offering limitless moments for meditation. Indeed, it is truly one of the most extraordinary Monuments built to the Glory of God in Spain.

Visitors experience a genuine sense of dazzlement, being left in a state of feeling blinded by intense beauty, overwhelmed by brilliance and splendour. 

The human senses reel from the magnificence and opulence of the place, observing holy decor and ornamentation everywhere.

The Basilica was completed in 1759 after nearly twenty years of construction. The timing was perfect. 

In those years. Ships laden with Gold were arriving from the New World. 

Skilled local artisans fashioned the Gold from the Americas to cover every part of the Interior in order to give Glory to God and to honour the memory of Saint John of God.
