The Victoria Consort was established in 2008 by students at Kent University and has since grown into one of the finest choral ensembles in the South East.
"Artists-in-Residence" at The newly-established Shrine of Saint Augustine, in Ramsgate, Kent, Pugin's Abbey, The Victoria Consort has performed a wide variety of Sacred Choral Music in both Concert and Liturgical contexts.
Invitations then followed to perform in France, notably at Saint Francois-Xavier, in Paris, France. Singers from the group perform in some of the finest Choirs (The Tallis Scholars, The Sixteen, Gallicantus, Sospiri, Merton College Choir) Ensembles and Opera Houses in Europe, including Bordeaux Opera, The Royal Opera and Scottish Opera.
The Victoria Consort has strong links to The Continent, some singers are based in Paris and Luxembourg and make the journey back to Kent to perform with this exciting group under its co-directors Thomas Neal and Benjamin Bevan.
The Victoria Consort offers four Scholarships for young adult singers to help them prepare for onward musical training and professional employment.
In 2015, The Victoria Consort released its first CD recording of Gregorian Chant; in 2016, it will launch its first recording of polyphonic music.
Guest conductors include Chris Watson (Director of Music at Saint Edmunds Hall, Oxford); Steven Higgins (Co-opera) and Colin Mawby (Composer).
