Before the road bridge was built further upstream at Saltash, Torpoint was a popular alternative ferry crossing for holidaymakers to reach Cornwall.
A longer river crossing than the Saltash Ferry, it was less congested and a shorter route to places like Looe.
Here a Duple-bodied Bristol LL6G of Royal Blue is coming off the ferry on the Cornwall side, while in the background is part of the Royal Navy Dockyard at Devonport.
