This House of Valliscaulian Monks was Founded in 1230 and united in 1454
with The Benedictine Urquart Priory. After 1560, Monks continued
in
decreasing
numbers to inhabit the Priory, until circa 1590.
After the Protestant Reformation, Pluscarden, like most Church
fell into the hands of wealthy overlords. In 1594, it was sold to
Keneth Mackenzie of Kintail, and then, in 1662,
to the Brodies of Lethen.
